 Letter from the President

With 2019 behind us and 2020 ahead of us, we are making plans for a new decade of rodeo and hopefully we can help lead the way into this decade. I have made it very clear to a lot of people, including our directors and our staff, that I think rodeo is at a place where it has not been in for a long time and possibly has never been.  I think there are numerous reasons why there is so much excitement in rodeo today, television channels such as the cowboy channel / Ride TV and different programs are featuring equine events, but it seems like rodeos are at the top of the list.  I know that sponsors from coast-to-coast are looking at rodeos for a new venture in their advertising. Another thing that has helped are some of these big rodeos like the American, and now a rodeo is headed back to Madison Square Garden in New York City; Wow, what a great event! So once again this is a very exciting time for our sport.  I challenge all of our membership and our great committees to take advantage of the excitement that is out there today.

As far as our association, we had a great 2019 rodeo season; memberships grew again; contestants per rodeo grew again; numerous committees were able to add more money to their rodeos last year.  Looking into the future I see nothing but exciting times ahead. I give tons of credit of the success of this association to our very strong membership,  great committees and to a group of  great stock contractors that truly care for this association.

With a new year ahead of us, we have lots of new things in the works. We have a new entry line system that has been implemented with an online entry system that we are excited about. Like all new things and new changes, we hope the bugs will be worked out before rodeo season begins. Jamie Schweer has been hired to be our entry line secretary, with years of experience in rodeo and tons of experience with taking entries for numerous associations.  We look forward to the entries ahead. After eight great years as our entry line secretary and association secretary, Tina has resigned to pursue other ventures. We have hired a new staff member running our day-to-day operations. Her name is Brandy Santos.  Brandy has a great resume and history of running and operating non-profit associations just like ours. She is very excited about stepping into this position and giving new opportunities to our association. She has made it very clear to me that she might not have all the answers immediately but she will get you the answer. I would ask that our members pick up the phone and make contact with her before the rodeo season starts to introduce yourself and get a feel of who you are working with!!

I will end with a big thank you to everyone that made 2019 a great year, and I look forward to working with everyone that wants to make the 2020 rodeo season even better!!
